What is Vinyasa Yoga?
My classes are based on Vinyasa style yoga. The word Vinyasa can be translated as “arranging something in a special way"
In a Vinyasa practice you are simply linking movement with breath.
Increased flexibility, strengthening muscles, bones and joints. Mental focus, cardiovascular conditioning, calorie-burn and muscle development.
One of the most substantial benefits of vinyasa yoga is its ability to calm the mind. Instead of worrying about how you're going to pay your bills, what you need at the shops, work stresses and family life you focus entirely on the breath and movement. This makes vinyasa yoga a moving meditation. Vinyasa teachers us to remain fully in the present. Living in the present doesn’t just reduce stress. It eases anxiety, gives you a better night’s sleep, and trains your mind to focus on the task at hand.
Yoga helps teach your body how to mitigate the stress response by using the breath and mental focus. A regular yoga practice does indeed improve sleep, reduce stress, quell anxiety and treat addiction.
What makes my classes different?
I always end my classes with a long Savasana (Relaxation). As an experienced massage therapist I always offer (optional) my students gentle massage around the neck and shoulders and gentle adjustments to release tension so I can help you relax further.
Classes are suitable for all levels regardless of your fitness or experience, modifications to each posture are always given.
